How to lose weight (and keep it off)?

If there is one thing you can learn from reading this blog (and everything else on google that you’re searching), it is that you need to be consistent to a plan to see results. Period.

We preach to our clients that consistency is the king to seeing results. Where most people go wrong when wanting to lose weight (and keep it off), is they go from one extreme to another and set themselves up for inconsistency.

If Monday - Friday you follow a strict diet and restrict yourself to the point that you do not enjoy what you are doing, then how do you expect your Saturday and Sunday to stay on track?
If you restrict yourself for 8 weeks and cannot wait for your 8 week challenge to be over, then how do you expect to stick to anything after the 8 week challenge?

The short answer to being consistent, is to follow a plan that suits your lifestyle where you can wake up happy and enjoying the process every day.

Because the process will be long.

Weight loss for some people is hard, and takes longer than others. Everyone is unique, and the same plan that worked for your friend may not work for you. This is why we ensure everyone’s plans are fully customised to that person, and changed for that person as they keep changing. Your body will keep changing over time.

When you have the goal to lose weight, they key is identifying where your maintenance (also known as total daily energy expenditure) sits today. If your job and lifestyle is very active, then your maintenance may be higher than someone else’s. Where as if you are extremely sedentary and don’t work out much, your maintenance is going to be lower.
Age, gender, lifestyle, training volume, lean mass, and genetics all plays a factor in your maintenance calories.

Once your maintenance calories are established for today, then the next step is to set up a deficit to ensure you are losing weight. As mentioned above, losing weight can take time so you need to be as adherent and consistent as possible when following this process.

Yes it can be hard.
Yes there are sacrifices to be made.
But will you see results if you trust the process? YES!

We check in with our clients on a weekly basis to ensure they are staying accountable and on track with their results.
Physical results (such as photo, scale weight, and tape measurements) are a great way to track progress.
We also check in on qualitative results such as energy, focus, hunger, sleep etc. as listening to your body and the changes are great tools to check in on how your body is responding to the process.

Weight loss is a process that should be respected and not abused.
