I’ll start again on Monday.
If you’re anything like most people, you may have over eaten on the weekend, had a few drinks, skipped a few sessions, and feeling excited and motivated to get “back on track” on Monday, today.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, and we encourage starting your week on a positive note to set yourself up, there is a way to manage your consistency day to day without relying on Mondays to feel motivated again.
The main reasons why we delay feeling good and on track for Monday’s is because:
1. Routine
Monday starts strong, Tuesday is good, Wednesday is okay although we missed our session, Thursday we resort to morning tea with the team, Friday we go out for drinks, and Saturday and Sunday we spend with our goals on the back burner because we know we have Monday coming up again soon.
It is the lack of routine on the weekend and the feeling of FREEDOM that people attach themselves too.
If you can set yourself up with a more positive routine for your life, then each day will be much easier to stay on top of for your goals.
Perhaps training Wednesday or Thursday when work is stressfulisn’tthe best idea. Perhaps training on Saturday and Sunday is a better idea when you are more relaxed and less stressed.
Set some better habits so that your weekend routine still has some sort of structure that works for you!
2. The All or Nothing mindset
When you spill a drop of soup on your white shirt, does that mean you need to pour the entire bowl of soup over the shirt because of one tiny stain?
We see this with a lot of people, the all or nothing approach with their nutrition and training.
Where this stems from is people striving for perfection rather than just progress.
It is FAR more beneficial for your long term results to be working on progression, and maybe just being 70-80% EVERY DAY rather than trying to be 100%. It is just impossible to be 100% every day, and you will resent yourself for trying to control every scenario. Just try be better than you have been and you will progress!
3. Everyone else is doing it
Social pressure is a big one, and the fear of judgement from others!
As far as everyone else is concerned, they honestly don’t care about whether you are tracking your food or not.
Or not drinking.
Or leaving the party at 10pm.
Or ordering your toast minus the butter.
No one actually cares.
Would you care if your friend was?
People only care about how it affects them, and that is a fact.
Start putting yourself first and if that makes people feel insecure about them selves, then maybe they are not the best people to surround your self with.
